Rally quotes . . .

4 hours and counting until we leave The Hague for Lille . . . with a

short stop in Breda to pick up a back seat and a stereo. We'll be

there tonight (I hope). Until then here are some rally quotes to

ruminate on.

- Region Free Players

The Sheik: My driving is rivaled only by the lightning bolts from the

heavens! (The Cannonball Run, 1981) [or the lightning bolts from our

car]

Organizer: Of course you know certain sceptics note that perhaps

10,000 of the nations's most elite highway patrolmen are out there

waiting for us after we start, but let's stay positively: Think of the

fact that there's not one state in the 50 that has the death penalty

for speeding... although I'm not so sure about Ohio. (The Cannonball

Run, 1981)

Shaky Finch: Come on! 1000 miles on one wheel? We're trying to win a

race, not set a record! (The Cannonball Run, 1981)

Franco: And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving.

[Franco rips off his rear-view mirror and throws it out of the car]

Franco: What's-a behind me is not important. (The Gumball Rally, 1976)

Barney Donahue: You know how often my wife tried to get me to get rid

of this car? Well that's German machinery for you. The car outlasted

her. (The Gumball Rally, 1976)

Professor Fate: What's next?

Max: Car number five, the engine falls out!

Professor Fate: Car number five! Ha ha ha ha!

[beat]

Professor Fate: Er, Max... *we're* number five. (The Great Race, 1965)
